Ngutuni Sanctuary is a private wildlife sanctuary bordering Tsavo East, closer to the coast road than the park’s main gate. It carries a similar cast of wildlife — elephant, buffalo, giraffe, zebra and a resident waterhole that draws animals throughout the day — in a shorter round trip, which makes it a practical choice for families with young children or anyone who wants a lighter day than a full Tsavo East run.

Pickup is a little later than the full Tsavo East day trip, since the drive in is shorter. Once inside the sanctuary, game viewing centres on the waterhole and surrounding bush, with a lunch stop included before the drive back to the coast in the afternoon.

Families with younger children, travellers who want a taste of safari without a long day of driving, and anyone staying at a hotel closer to the Mombasa–Tsavo road who wants to keep transfer time to a minimum.

The price shown is a guide per person for a shared 4×4 day trip including sanctuary fees, driver-guide and lunch. If you want the wider variety and longer game drives of the main park instead, the Tsavo East Day Trip from Mombasa is the better fit.
