For cruise passengers with a shorter port call, or anyone who would rather spend limited time ashore in the water than on the road, Mombasa Marine National Park is the closest marine excursion to the port. The reef lies just off Nyali and Bamburi beach, a short drive from the terminal, which keeps travel time to a minimum and leaves more of your call for the water itself.<\/p>\n
A traditional glass-bottom boat takes you out over coral gardens close to shore, where the clear panel lets non-swimmers and children see fish and coral without getting in the water. For those who want to snorkel, the boat stops at a suitable spot in the marine park for guided snorkelling among reef fish and coral formations; equipment is provided and a guide stays with the group throughout.<\/p>\n
Because the drive from the port is short, this excursion can usually run even on tighter port calls where a safari would not fit, and the whole outing, from pickup to return, is typically half a day or less. It also works well as a second excursion alongside a morning city tour on ships with a longer call.<\/p>\n
